Rauðr. Old Norse for red. A colour that runs through Viking history like fire — and through this piece like the earth itself.
The Rauðr necklace begins with 13 metres of fine 0.3mm copper wire, woven centimetre by centimetre into a double-knit Viking weave chain. This gauge of wire is notoriously difficult to work with — it demands patience and precision — but it rewards with a fluidity and drape that heavier chains simply cannot achieve. Finished with handmade copper end caps and a handmade S-clasp, every element of this necklace is made by hand.
At its heart, a polished red jasper stone sourced in Corfe Castle, Dorset — wire wrapped in copper to sit naturally against the chain, its irregular shape a reminder that this is a stone shaped by the earth, not a factory.
